Why you should choose 316 Stainless Steel Bollards and not 304
Purchasing stainless steel bollards is often a large investment! Therefore it is most important to ensure the stainless steel bollard you require will actually fit the purpose you require it for. One of the most important areas to look out for is the grade of stainless steel required. Area Safe Products 316 Stainless Steel bollards are the highest grade of S/S bollards you can purchase.
So why 316 and what’s the difference
between 304 and 316 stainless steel? The simple answer is 304 contains
18% chromium and 8% nickel while 316 contains 16% chromium, 10%
nickel and 2% molybdenum. Molybdenum is a chemical element used for the
strengthening and hardening of steel and is added to help resist corrosion
to chlorides (like sea water and de-icing salts). This means that even
304 Stainless Steel bollards are not likely to withstand the harshness
of salt water and salty air near the seaside without developing a brown stain.
